Abstract

Land conversion has a significant impact on the limited land area and water availability, particularly affecting agriculture. Water demand and quality are crucial for the growth and productivity of crops. One effective method for watering plants is aquaponics. In hydroponic systems, the timing of water distribution greatly influences the quality and quantity of fish and plants produced. The maximum turbidity level for hydroponics should not exceed 25 NTU. The purpose of developing this automated irrigation system is to assist aquaponic farmers and reduce losses. This research employs the prototype method, utilizing a turbidity sensor and an ultrasonic sensor, along with a water pump to regulate water flow to aquaponic plants. The system operates by sending sensor measurements to the NodeMCU ESP 8266 module, which then determines whether the water pump should be activated based on the sensor readings. This tool is designed to relieve farmers from the burden of manually monitoring their aquaponic systems, as it will automatically adjust water levels according to sensor data.
